Smashed Avo (or smashed avocado for the non Australians) has got to be Australia’s national breakfast dish. And as an Aussie dedicated to boosting the awareness for Australian Cuisine, I’m sharing a great little recipe to help you start the day like a champion.
A popular dish amongst millennials, most trendy cafés have a version or two on their menus. But honestly, why pay $18 for this hipster favourite when you can easily make it at home yourself. Besides, at home you can eat it in your pyjamas 😉
This recipe has 5 ingredients (not counting the salt and pepper, of course) and takes less then 10 minutes to make and I promise it’ll be just as good if not better than any breakfast you order out.
Smashed Avocado with Feta on Toasted Turkish Bread
1 tbsp lemon juice
salt & pepper, to taste
2 slices of Turkish bread
25g feta cheese
- Add avocado and lemon juice to a small bowl and roughly mash with a fork until at desired consistency. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Set aside.
- Toast or grill Turkish bread until golden and spread half of the mashed avocado onto each slice.
- Crumble feta cheese over top and serve.
