Most people say that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and brunch the most enjoyable. But can a place that only features the breakfast menu really be all that it’s cracked up to be? Well one little place near the coast of Caloundra proves that it is! The Giggling Goat is a pet-friendly cafe within walking distance to Dicky Beach.

As we arrived, the cafe was abuzz with customers and there were not many tables left. Just as we thought we would have to eat somewhere else, one of the very friendly waitresses came over to help find a table for our larger party of 10. Soon enough, tables and chairs had been moved together for us. It is safe to say that the staff are very accommodating.

When I picked up the menu, I thought I was just going to find typical breakfast items – bacon and eggs, pancakes etc – but I was pleasantly surprised! Of course, they did still have bacon, eggs and pancakes; but there was also four different kinds of eggs benedicts (which they offered both full and half serves, which I thought was great), waffles with ice cream and caramel sauce and something they called the Mega Breakfast – just to name a few of the many menu items!

I decided to order a half serve of the Labrador Eggs Benedict (spinach, bacon, poached eggs, grilled vegetables on toasted sourdough bread served with a hashbrown and grilled haloumi for $12.50) and a Cappuccino ($4).
The owner of the cafe came over to greet us and before we ordered she said, “be as fussy as you like, if you want something taken off don’t hesitate to ask because I’d rather the food in your bellies than in my waste bin!” I could not fault the customer service! Within minutes of ordering, the coffee was brought over. It had a lovely aroma and a delicious and robust flavour.

The food was very quick to come out and everything looked amazing. The portion sizes were good and everything was plated very well. As I was preparing to cut my first bite, I cut through the egg and out oozed the perfectly cooked yolk which mixed amazingly with the creamy hollandaise sauce! The toasted sourdough bread was the perfect thickness and added some great texture. However, the grilled vegetables (zucchini, butternut pumpkin and sundried tomatoes) really made this dish shine. They added just the right amount of freshness that was needed to cut through the richness of the bacon, eggs and sauce.

The Giggling Goat is a great little cafe that serves delicious food with amazing customer service and I highly recommend going there! You will definitely be glad that you did!
