Homemade Mexican Spice Mix

Ingredients
  

  • ½ tsp salt
  • 2 tsp cumin
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp ground chilli powder
  • ¼ tsp paprika
  • tsp cayenne pepper see notes

Instructions
 

  • Add all ingredients to a small bowl or jar and stir thoroughly to combine. Store in airtight container or jar until ready to use.

Notes

  1. This spice mix has a pretty mild heat level, but can easily be made hotter by adding more cayenne pepper.
  2. To use the spice mix, simply brown off 500g of meat - I usually use minced beef - in a large frying pan until just cooked. Add the spice mix along with 2-3 tbsp of water and stir to combine. Continue cooking until the water has evaporated and the meat is cooked through.
