Ingredients
1
sheet ready-made puff pastry
1
large apple
2
tsp
caster sugar
½
tsp
ground cinnamon
1
egg
beaten
2
tsp
honey
Instructions
Preheat oven to 180°C and line a large baking tray with baking paper.
Sit the frozen sheet of pastry aside to thaw. Meanwhile, prep the apples by peeling (optional), coring, and thinly slicing it up.
Place pastry on prepared baking tray, and using a knife, score a ¾ inch border around the edge, making sure not to cut all the way through.
Add apple and arrange so that all the slices are toughing up against each other slightly. You may do this as rustically or as neatly as you like.
Evenly sprinkle sugar and cinnamon over apple and brush the edges of the pastry with egg using a pastry brush.
Bake for 10-15 minutes or until pastry is golden brown and the apples are soft and tender.
Remove from oven and drizzle over honey whilst still hot. Serve warm or room temperature, preferably the day is was made.
Notes
Any apples can be used for this recipe, although I recommend choosing apples that cook well.
This tart is best fresh, but can be reheated the next day - the pastry just may not be as crispy!
